What do you do

....when your not papercrafting?????

I started dabbling in a bit of crochet a year or so ago and I am sooooo falling in love with it. Wish I had someone who could show me IRL though. My confidence in my crochet skills is sadly lacking but I did try a baby blanket for a friend of my mums grandchild who is due in a few weeks.

I've never been one for just sitting so it's great to be able to sit in front of the telly but still be doing something. More sociable than being stuck upstairs in the craftroom too. I've recently joined a crochet group on FB and wow some of the creations blow your mind...maybe one day when I grow up..........

Do you do any other crafts?

Thanks for stopping by today

  2. Beautiful Kerry, I self taught myself crochet many moons ago and made blankets for both of my children whilst I was expecting. Not any good at following patterns though! Take care, love Jane x

  3. Your blanket is beautiful! There are a lot of good online sites that teach crochet -- everything from basic stitches to reading patterns to construction can be found. However, me thinks you are doing quite fine on your own.

I also do a bit of crochet and knitting as well as paper crafts. However, I have a creative consultant (aka Annie kitty), who wants to play with the yarns or ribbons and such, so I have to be really creative to be crafty (LOL!!)

  6. Your blanket is gorgeous Kerry. I learned to crochet when I was 7 but haven't done any for a long while. I bought fancy wool at the SECC last month to knit scarves for presents. Carol x

  7. Your blanket is lovely and am sure your mums friend is going to be over the moon with it. I like to crochet but can only do the square blankets, we have quite a few dotted round the house, keeps you warm to when making them xx

  9. Your blanket looks lovely Kerry, you seem to be doing fine judging by this. Don't know if you are aware of the Ravelry site (www.ravelry.com) which is for knitters and crocheters. Loads of patterns, many free, and there is a forum too where you can get support.
I'm presently into hand knitting because I can do it whilst watching tv. I'm still making cards, sewing and decorating ... well anything that takes my fancy.

  11. I am looking for something to do when I am not paper rafting, and something to do in front of the tv in the evening would be just the job. I can only do very very basic crochet ( doubles and trebles) but the blanket is beautiful. Is it difficult to do? I can't work out from the picture what stich you have used, but be proud it is lovely!

  18. The blanket looks gorgeous, I can crochet but only really basic stuff, never followed a pattern. You have done a brilliant job. I knit though only small/baby things lately, the wool is so expensive.

  19. Oh my word, this is gorgeous! I'm looking to learn to crotchet as I would love to be able to make something for my new niece or nephew. If this is you not thinking it's very good, I can't wait to see what you create when you're an expert!

  20. Hi Kerry

This little blanket is beautiful. I have now seen all three that you have made but I like this one the best. Can you tell us on your blog which pattern you used and if it is available to buy.
I sew and do machine embroidery as well as cardmaking and I have done a small amount of crochet but I would love to try this one.
Thank you for your great inspiration.
