More less is more

Well I really wasn't that happy with my card yesterday for the less is more challenge. Not really sure why maybe because I couldn't get a decent pic. It actually looked a bit nicer IRL than any of the photos I'd taken but I still wasn't overly keen on it.I don't know why but there are certain colour my camera really struggles with..browns being one of them and the other being purple.Drives me potty!!

Anyhow enough waffle and on to my second card

The papers on this card a from a  fab new FREE download at summertime designs
The image is birthday lullabelle from Digistamp Boutique coloured with prisma color pencils
and cut out using the out of the box technique
Sentiment was printed directly onto the card using bookworm font
I added a bit of the old glamour dust and some faux stitching with a white pen to finish

Milk carton on the hougie board

After I posted this little set a lot of people asked me if I could do a little tut
on how I make the milk cartonson the hougie board

So here it is

What you will need
A4 piece of card
hougie board
bull dog clip

Place you piece of A4 card on your hougie board in a landscape position on the cm side
and score at
7cm 14cm 21cm 28cm
also make a small score approx 3cm long at 10&1/2cm and 24&1/2 cms

Then turn your card 90 degrees clockwise into portrait position
and score at
6cm 14cm 19&1/2 cms

Fold all the full score lines
and trim away the areas shown above

 You are left with this
Add adhesive down the flap on the right hand side.
I always use DST and add a few dabs of wet glue on top

Join the side as shown here

 you now have this

Fold in the bottom flaps and adhere as above
( again I use DST with a few dabs of wet glue)

This is where those two little scores come in so handy
Simply squeeze the top together on both sides
and clip the top together with your bulldog clip

At this point I run my fingernail/bone folder/embossing tool  down the creases to sharpen

And here's what you end up with
Decorate as you wish

I have also made a holder for 4 of these using my own measurements like here
I will post a tut on that at a later date

Another chap card

Here's a little card I've made with another of the new releases from Digistamp Boutique
This little chap is called work James and he's one from a new family called the Smiths

The backing card is an old cereal packet and I simply embossed the edge
using the edge of a rectangle nestie and an embossing tool
The image was coloured with prisma pencils
sentiment was computer generated
a couple of buttons and some faux stitching to finish

Challenge time:
Clear It Out!  -Buttons
Cuttlebug Spot - must include dry embossing -  Buttons
Digital Tuesday - include a digital element -  Button Up
Make it Monday - Anything goes
Squigglefly - Buttons
One Stitch At A Time - Something for the Boys

less is more week 7 ...masculine

Well not wanting to risk another disaster like last week I thought I would get in early
The dreaded masculine card eh? Think I must be odd cos I actually quite enjoy making mens cards. Maybe that's because I am naturally drawn to unfussy things ??

Do you know I can't remember the last time I made a DL card...I must try harder to stick to my new years resolution and try not to make square cards all the time!!
The patterned paper is just one of the many papers from this set called boy trendz
The sentiment was computer generated using bookworm font

I would also like to enter this into
challenge 58 of totally papercrafts which is add buttons

Printing off the edge ....

......of your card blank
A few people have asked me how to achieve this when you don't have a borderless printer.
It very simple indeed
I just print onto an a4 sheet on card

I use page plus to do this and set the page up like so

The red lines indicate where I would fold and trim the card down to make my square card.
Obviously you can use these in many configurations and sizes depending on the
dimensions/layout of the finished card you wish to achieve.
I always use these as it gives a great indication of how the images will print and can really help when trying to figure out your layout. I used the same technique on these cards HERE
Obviously there will be a small gap at the bottom of the page that does not print. I simply trim this off.

Hope that helps

In the Nick of time...phew

As I explained mid week what was going t be my submission for the less is more challenge this week was a bit of a boo boo . I love this challenge so much I promised myself at the start that would enter EVERY week and this week is no exception as I'm not going to let my stupid bad stomach make me miss one!!
So I dragged myself out of my pit and have a small play :)

I know that this ted was a freebie but for the life of me I cannot remember where he is from
(if you know please do tell so I can give credit)
He was from the stamp fairy (thanks denise and Louise)
He is printed directly onto the card blank and coloured with prisma color pencils
One faux pearl added to his flower and Voila!
Not a masterpiece by a long way but they can't all be can they?

Vintage Flowers

Again this is another one which I  didn't get around to posting before

This was the first thing I made with these flower Images from digistamp boutique
I printed the onto patterned papers which was a free download from two peas in a bucket (I Think) and decoupaged
The sentiment was computer generated
I aged everything with antique lined distress ink
TFSB and for all the get well wishes they are very much appreciated ;)
I am feeling a tad better this evening after having a good few hours sleep today so I am hoping to get a bit of crafting in tomorrow ...fingers crossed

An Oldie

I've not been feeling well again over the last few days and when I am like this I find it hard to sit at my craft desk for any length of time so no crafting ever really gets done. So I've been having a dig around and found a few cards that for some reason I never published at the time I made them.

I think this is stamped using versacolour turquoise ink
and the sentiment is computer generated.
I have no clue what the stamp is lol

A few people have asked me in the past about matching printed text with ink pads and coloured cardstock. The simple answer is there is no trick . I just guess a few and print onto print scrap paper until I get it right.
I then jot down the rgb codes against the ink pad in a little chart I made for future use.

TFSB and for all the lovely comments you have been leaving me
and hi to my new followers
kerry x

You are a star!!

Here's a little card I made with the leftovers from the card I posted on Monday

I distressed the papers which are from the Boy Trendz Range from The Clipart fairy and did a bit of all over the shop sewing as before
the dark strip was embossed with the circles cuttlebug folder
The coordinating star sentiment is a freebie to coordinate perfectly with the Boy Trendz range and can be downloaded from Wendy's blog here
I added a couple of sparkly stars to finish

less is more...NOT!! lol

Well this was going to be my entryd into the less is more challenge for this week...I just realised on popping over to copy the links that there is an additional criteria of NO embossed lines...ohh poo now why hadn't  I seen that before!! hope I get chance to make something else as I haven't missed a week yet! ...I am a muppet sometimes!!!!

For my card this week I used one image from a new set
I coloured my images with prisma color pencils and embossed two lines using my hougie board to frame the images then added a couple of tiny faux gems and a few dot's of glamour dust.

I really liked the card I made but afterwards decided to make it pop just a touch more and made another but 3d'd the centre butterfly
I liked that one that much I got a tad carried away lol

My MIL nabbed half of them though!! lol
Kerry x

Here's a cute little card made using this image from The Clipart fairy

The papers I used are also from The Clipart Fairy and are just one of a whole host of items from the Boy Trendz Range
I coloured the image with prisma pencils and paper pieced the five
I did a bit of the old distressed edges and a spot of all over the shop sewing with my trusty old singer machine that I have had since I was 15. It's only one of those half size starter machines. I think it was £35 at the time, I can remember saving up for it lol. My Mum came across it in her loft a few months back..what a find!
I also used the machine without any thread to do the piercing around the image

Hope you've all had a fab weekend and thanks for stopping by

Funky modern flowers

Simply printed directly onto the card base and coloured with prisma colour pencils
Embossed edges scored with hougie board
sentiment computer generated using bookworm font

Morning Glory

Here is another card where I have played with the digi image in page plus

The image is called Morning Glory and you can get it from A Passion for Stamps
I changed the outline of the image using the instructions in my tut HERE
The image is completely the wrong way around but as I was going for an  unrealistid look with my colouring I didn't think it mattered..sorry if you are a flower buff
Then printed again and stamped over the top using a floral background stamp to colour the flowers .
then cut out and decoupaged. I added a touch of prisma colour pencils to the leaves and stems for shading.
The sentiment was computer generated using the same RGB (colour) codes as the digi and I added a couple of little punched butterflies from the waste card oh and added a faux pearl
Kerry x

Sorry about the funny colour to the piccie.
I will try and take another in the morniing when hopefully it will be a bit brighter

Simple Sentiment

A very quick and simple card to make today.

The sentiment is computer generated using CHAMPIGNON font (free from dafont)
The shape is made by cutting a rectangle then rounding off the edges with a circle nesties . Then using the edge of the nestie and an embossing tool to give the embossed edge.
The paper is from a free download from shabby princess called expressy which was printed onto papermill shop ivory linen card.
The dark chocolate card is also from the papermill shop
and has been punched using an xcut border
flowers are again an xcut punch

Very quick , very simple and I like it a lot
Kerry x

Patchwork Baby

heres a quick little card I've made trying to use up my scraps of card.

I embossed them using three different folders and made a patchwork effect by sticking them to the base card
The sentiment is computer generated and cut out using nellies dies
Fonts used are papyrus and little days
A bit of sticky ribbon a few faux Pearls and voila

Week 5 = Use pastel colours

I printed my flower which is from this digi set over at The Digistamp Boutique onto some digi paper from shabby princess from a set called expressy. I cut out 2 layers and 3d'd before mounting with 3d foam .
The sentiment is stamped onto a coordinating paper from the set
and I added a bit of dotty stitching and a few faux pearls to finish.

TFSB and to Mandi & Chrissie for such a great challenge.

Modern flowers in page plus

I said yesterday I would do a little tut on how I did THIS CARD
using the modern flowers 5 image from Digistamp Boutique

I was hoping to be able to share a full picture tutorial but I have had difficulty capturing the pop up menus so I will add as many pictures as I can and hopefully you can understand the rest of my written instructions :) It is VERY simple honest or there is no way I could do it lol

Well here goes:
I always resize/recolour my images in a free programme called Page Plus which you can download HERE

Once installed open up the program and click on

This will bring up a new page selection where you can choose a4 a5 landscape portrait etc..choose whichever suits your needs

Once your new page is all set up you need to insert the image
to do this click on the small picture icon in the tool bar

This will bring up a small pop up of drop down menus
for you to choose the image you wish to insert from your computer
Locate and click on your selection and OPEN or DOUBLE CLICK

So now we have our image on the page
This is were we can start to play

For the card I made yesterday I simply printed the image out in a very pale version
of the colour I wished to watercolour with and used it as a guide for my colouring. (AS ABOVE)

then right click
choose FILL from the drop down menu
then change the type drop down to SOLID
then simply choose which colour you wish to change the image to and click ok.

If the image is still not pale enough simply
right click on the image again
choose transparency from the drop down
Again change the type to SOLID use the slider to fade

Then you can simply fill in with your colouring medium
here's one I have started to watercolour

Another using prismacolor pencils

And here's another completed card using markers

Now if you really couldn't be bothered to even colour you could always
have another play in the settingsand use the transparency tool
to give special effects such as this
To get this printed effect
Follow the steps above in TO CHANGE THE IMAGE COLOUR
Then right click on the image again
choose TRANSPARENCY from the drop down
Then choose GRADIENT in the first type drop down
then Choose one of the options from the second type drop down menu
and use the slider to give differing effect
For the image above I used CONICAL option

You can change any digi in this way even the outline images
For instance I often change my outline to a soft grey or brown especially for bears etc
which gives a much softer effect than a harsh black outline.
I also like to change my text in this way to match the images perfectly.
Page Plus is a super little tool for anyone who wants to do the basics like flip, rotate, change colours
and sizes etc without having to remember loads of complicated tools and instructions.

I hope my little tut has been helpful and just to say
that I am in NO WAY connected with SERIF or page plus
or am I an expert on the subject this is just how I do things.

It is also worth noting that you might like to ask the creator of any images you wish
to alter in this way if it is ok to do so???
I wouldn't want anyone breaking anyones angel policies/terms of use.

If you have any questions please feel free to chat box me

Modern Flowers

For today's card I had a little play with one of the brand new releases from

But with a few clicks in a free program called page plus and a splash of water colours you can give it
a very different look, as you can see from my card.

More flowers

I couldn't resist making more and more cards with this fabulous new flower collection
from Digistamp Boutique

My Inspiration for this card came from the lovely Kaths blog
I just adore what she can do with flower stamps....One day when I grow up I want to make cards half as good :).....I can dream lol

For my card I arranged the flowers onto the patterned paper which is a summertime designs freebie called ring it in then printed it a few times and decoupaged the flowers and leaves.
The sentiment was also computer generated.
Then I added a bit of faux stitching and some seed beads to finish

Less is more week 4 three squares

Here is my entry for the less is more challenge this week.
(3 squares)

I printed the new release rose images from digistamp boutique onto linen effect card and coloured with prismacolour pencils
The sentiment was also computer generated using loosescript font
I simply matted and layered onto another square that has been embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder called stylized flowers.

Hope you like and thanks for stopping by.

....and we all know what that means! Yep, release day at Digistamp Boutique:)
And oh my I am in LOVE with the flower images !! Here is my very first creation but believe me there will be plenty more to follow :)

Two cards in one week that I can actually say I am pleased that doesn't happen very often!! lol

Image from the new release at digistamp boutique coloured with prismacolor pencils
Computer generated sentiment using Jellyka CuttyCupcakes font
I cut it out using the outside the box technique and finished off by scoring a border 1/2 cm in.

I hope you like???? Pop over to the digistamp boutique and take a peek at the other gorgeous flowers Sally - Ann has penned as part of this months offers. There are also two super cute bears called Bella and Oscar.
